“Please let her be all right–I haven’t even had a chance to tell her how much I love her!”

Devoted wife and mother Emily Stratton has spent her life suppressing the knowledge that she is attracted to women. A systems analyst with the Maine State Police, Emily’s life is turned upside down when her husband is killed in what appears to be a tragic accident.

Calm and self-controlled Detective Kay DeLorme has always loved women, but never really been in love. Kay and her partner in the Major Crimes Unit are tracking down a vicious sociopath linked to a notorious drug gang and they need Emily’s info-tech expertise.

Emily and Kay are both startled by the instantaneous attraction they feel toward one another, but neither is quite sure how to handle it. As their friendship grows and the case heats up, so does their passion. But the decisions they’ll make and the risks they’ll take will soon engender consequences that neither of them could imagine.

Consequences is a stunning romantic thriller by debut author Sarah Libero.

Consequences edition by Sarah Libero Literature Fiction eBooks

This is the 3rd book I've read in the last few weeks where I found myself wondering who is doing the editing and whether the publishers try these books out on beta readers first before publishing.
The writing is so stilted and halting that it was hard to read. Most of book is written in paragraphs like this:
Kay drove to work. She got out of the car. She locked the doors. She walked to her office. She took off her coat.
Literally 80% of the book reads like this. The story itself I forgive because this is probably a first time author but it needs a ton of work especially on showing instead of telling. There are a ton of times where the author feels she needs to tell you what the character is going to say before saying it. It's unnecessary and halts the flow of the story.
I'm sorry for being so harsh but for $10 a book I know most people expect a well written book. This just isn't it.

Emily Stratton is a systems analyst with the Main State Police. She is the mother of two grown sons. Her life changes dramatically when her husband is killed in an automobile accident. Detective Kay Dealorme works with the Maine Major Crimes Unit. She asks for helpi developing data from Emily. As Emily and Kay work together they form a friendship, but each is also aware of an instant attraction for the other. Emily has always known that she is attracted to women. Kay has long been a lesbian, but she has never been in love. . . until now.
Consequences explores how Emily and Kay's relationship affects her sons, as well as the solid police work in the accident investigation of Emily's
husband's death. This book has a great plot, and an exciting conclusion. Both Emily and Kay are very likeable characters, and the unusual setting in Maine is an unexpected treat!
I look forward to more of her work as she develops not only as an author but the story line continues.

First love isn't easy to write about but I enjoyed these characters as I got to know them. The cop definitely sounded HOT! The main character as she develops herself and realizes her attraction is cute and it's interesting how the writer digs into her feelings and emotions of first love...especially to a woman.
What a good story! It is a complete story, well-edited and entertaining. This is a story of mystery, murder and two women on each end of the mystery, who come together to help solve it. Emily's husband of 25 years is found dead in his pickup truck after skidding off an icy road. Detective Kay DeLorme takes the case, and in the process they realize they are each what they have both been looking for all their lives. They face the bad guys on a few occasions and help each other through the mystery.
This is the first book from this author and I think the writing could have been a little smoother but it didn’t detract from a good plot and great characters so I liked it enough to give it five stars. Plus stories where a straight woman falls for another woman are my favorite. I'll be looking for her second book.
First book this author has written, quickly forgot it after i read it. She used all the usual tropes. Perhaps she will improve with experience.
