A Will and a Way Language of Love Nora Roberts 9780754073512 Books

Uncle Jolly had a very unique sense of humor. After his death, he left very little to his immediate family. He did leave the bulk of his estate to Pandora and Michael. Here's where the sense of humor kicks in, they don't care for each other. They dig at each other. The catch in the will...they have to live together in Jolley's house for a period of 6 months. The payoff...over 150 million. Pandora doesn't care about the money. Then she finds out that if either of them refuses, the money will then be divided among the immediate family and another cause. Pandora knows that they will sell off everything including 'Jolly's folly', (the house). She loves that house and has many happy memories there. Michael feels the same way. Michael convinces her that they can tolerate each other for six months living in the same house but staying out of each others way as much as possible. Of course, there will be rules to follow. According to the will, they cannot spend more than 48 hours apart or away from the house during the six months.
Things start happening..vandalism, getting locked in the basement, fake telegrams. And more. But then, when they don't scare...it escalates to attempted murder. Somebody is very serious about breaking this will. Read and find out. You won't be disappointed.
A good suspense mystery. I was unable to guess who did it until I was told. Pandora and Michael make two unforgettable, fun characters. My verdict...I'm glad this is not my family!!!

A Will and a Way Language of Love Nora Roberts 9780754073512 Books Reviews

Very delightful story about how two people need to live in the same house for six months in order to inherit it according to the will. Of course, the rest of the family members are not happy about this. Nora Roberts writes this book to keep your attention to see what will happen next with intrigue, suspense, and surprises. It is a very difficult book to put down. Happy reading!!
This is a book originally published in 1986. If nothing else, it shows how far her style has evolved. I don't recommend reading this because the plot is so thin and the characters are cardboard cutouts. I LOVE Nora Roberts but this was just a waste of 99¢ and a couple of hours of my time.
It's a good book. But as usual Silhouette is misleading people. This book may have been republished 10/2017... but they published this story - with the same title - in November 1986.
Nora Roberts has developed into a brilliant author. This was one of her early efforts before she fully honed her craft. That being said, the plot and characters were predictable and enjoyable at the same time. Roberts gained skills along her journey, but efforts such as this one is how that happened. It would be fun to see a rewrite today in Which Charles and Sweeny have a separate side story, and the relatives had clandestine meetings that only showed as shadows and dialogue with no names.
This is a very, very old re-release. I wish the original release date was posted; it's a good read but it started seeming very familiar and when no one had cell phones or computers.....yeah.
This book was originally released in 1986 and has recently been released as an e-book. It passed the test of time for one of Roberts' early M&B type romances. This is not my normal fare but after an operation I had a need for an interlude from heavy thrillers. This filled the bill - while it does follow Roberts' early romance formulas it is sufficiently different to make it a good read for the genre.

Uncle Jolley was an eccentric but very wealthy old man who disliked and distrusted most of his family but was very close to and doted on his niece Pandora McVie and distant relative Michael Donahue (his mother had been Uncle Jolley's niece by Jolley's son's second marriage). The only problem was that Pandora and Michael had never been good friends.

Uncle Jolley had the last laugh on his close family members when he died. He left his collection of magic tricks to his son, and a nephew who kept the first dollar he had made was left the last dollar Jolley made, appropriately framed. Grand nephew Biff was left his collection of matches in the hope that at last he would set the world on fire.

When it came to the main bequest Jolley left most of his considerable wealth and his huge house (Jolley's Folly) to Pandora and Michael "because they understood and cared". The bequest came with a kicker - they had to move into Jolley's Folly and live there together for six months (with only 2 days away) for the estate to revert to them in equal shares.

Jolley sets up Pandora and Michael to live closely together and really get to know one another. He also stirs up his family to find ways to make sure that Pandora and Michael can't fulfil the requirements of the will.

It was an entertaining and interesting romantic setup, against a background of dirty business by the family. I needed the break and it was especially rewarding as the book had been discounted to pocket change.
I am a HUGE Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb fan. I only recently started reading the "Nora" books after collecting each and every J.D. Robb book. Some of the Nora Roberts books are great, some awful. I hate to say that, but it's true. I guess it depends on what style of book one likes. This was not for me. It could only have been worse if she had added her dreary witch characters.
